Feelings

I haven't had a whole lot to post lately but I think I just need to write things down to figure out how I am feeling. This week football practices started for Jacob and Zach. Next week Kelsie starts volleyball and Caleb starts his football practices. While I love having my kids invloved in sports, I dread the schedules! I feel like this summer went soaring by! I haven't even put a dent into all the school supplies I need to buy. Dave is starting to travel again so I am going to be doing the single mom thing with all the kids with different practice schedules, starting school and needing me. I am overwelmed and the worst hasn't even started yet??!!! I know that someday I will miss the busy schedules and smelly boys and a messy house but right now I am longing for peace and quiet and serenity!

Spokane to Sandpoint

For the past two or three months Dave has been training for this relay race Spokane to Sandpoint. He and 11 other guys took turns running different "legs" of the race. It was 190 miles and they started Friday morning and finished Saturday afternoon. I met the team for part of the race and was able to get this picture of Dave finishing the first part of his leg of the race. It was really HOT! I think around 100 degrees and Dave was running in the heat of the day 3:00 o'clock in the afternoon. He did awesome!!! He has always said he hated running but thanks to his marathon friends they have encouraged him take up the sport. He is now encouraging the whole family to be a part of the annual Labor Day Fun run which is a 5K run! We are so proud of him and this accomplishment!!

The Air Show

On Saturday our family went to the air show at the base. I have never been to an air show and was begrudgingly going but the whole family wanted to be there. I am so glad I went because it was the coolest thing ever!! The Blue Angels performed and I just can't describe how neat it was! They were incredible!! The pictures we took will not even do it justice. So if you ever get a chance to go see them perform I highly recommend it!! You might want to bring earplugs because it was pretty loud! Kelsie was the only one I could get to really pose for me! But notice Dave's Top Gun pose! I love it!!

My Big Sister

Connie and her family came to visit this last week and we had a great time!! We love having visitors! We went to Riverfront Park and rode the carousel.

I made them pose at the big red wagon.

Keidra, Jake, Caleb and Connor had a great time on the "spider"

We went to Silverwood and Connie and I braved the new ride "Aftershock!" It was sooo scary! I didn't like it too much but Connie did! We had a blast even though I didn't take very many pictures!

It was a good week and now that everyone is gone our house is almost too quiet. We made some great memories by playing games, eating junk food especially the chocolate cake from Costco (thanks Vaughn!), going to the movies and just spending time together. I love my family!! Thanks for coming Wilkes family!! We love you!

Caleb is 13!

Caleb turned 13 today! It is a bummer when your birthday falls on a Sunday and especially when it falls on a fast Sunday!! But after church Caleb opened his Cookie Crisp Cereal and the rest of his presents and then he chose his favorite dinner of steak and shrimp with mashed potatoes. We had our adopted family the Jarvis' come over for cake and ice cream. I can't believe I now have 3 teenagers in the house!! Caleb is such a great addition to our family. He and I were best buds for awhile because I had almost a whole 2 years before I got pregnant with Jacob. He was the thumb sucker in the family. He would only need his blanket and his thumb at night or anytime he needed consoling. He will always get teased for hating swimming lessons crying through the whole lesson even with dad right next to him. Now he is the first one in the water!! He is growing up to be a great young man. His voice is getting lower and he is getting taller each week. I will never forget him coming upstairs and announcing that he had 10 armpit hairs! He was so proud!!
Happy Birthday Caleb!! We Love You!!!!

Happy Birthday Caleb!
