Face Painting

So I thought it would be fun to show Kelsie's new hobby/job. She paints faces at birthday parties and carnivals. She has had to practice and guess who her subjects were?? Yes, her family!! Oh the fun times here at the Barnes house!

We all look so excited...especially the boys. She has many more faces that she can paint but these are just a few.I almost forgot!!! Emily, Evan and Tracey got to have their faces painted when they came to visit!!!

Wisdom

In the last month both Zach and Kelsie have lost their wisdom...teeth. Zach had to go to an oral surgeon to get his out just because he has to do everything the hard way. Kelsie was able to have our wonderful dentist take them out. They both did great! I got some baby food and it was pretty funny feeding Zach some so he could get the pain pills down. I wish I would have taken pics. Kelsie was so excited to take pain pills but really had no reaction to them. They didn't even make her sleepy. She did laugh a lot more and I guess was a little loopy. Here is a semi-gross picture of Kelsie's teeth.

Graduation 2011

Zach is now a high school graduate. It is so weird to think this because I feel like I just finished high school. The wrinkles and 4 kids are good reminders to me that it is a figment of my imagination. Zach was chosen to speak at his graduation and I will eventually learn how to put his speech on my blog. But for now you will have to settle for the pictures from the night. My in-laws, my mom and my sister Stacey were able to come and share in this event with us. I wish everyone could have wisked themselves to be here in Spokane but I know how it is. I am so grateful for the man Zach has grown up to be. He is a great example of someone with confidence and poise, love and compassion and I am such a proud mom! He is currently working this summer for a mining company in Wallace, ID. He is roughing it in the wilderness taking soil samples and loving being a part of nature! He plans on attending BYU-I for the Fall/Winter and then off to serve a mission. We love you Zach!

Track and Tennis 2011

During the Spring the boys were involved in track and Kelsie was in tennis.

Kelsie had a great season this year. She played on the JV team but was able to play varsity doubles a few times. She was voted MVP for her team.

Track season for Caleb is just a extra practice for Cross country. He ran the 1600 and the 3200 and did great. He ran a sub 5 minute mile and qualified for districts in the 3200 running a 10:33.

Jacob threw javelin( actually called turbo jav in 7th grade) He threw 109 feet and 9 inches. He placed 3rd in the all-city meet. He has since started training with a coach and has been involved in some extra track meets through the month of June. He has been throwing a normal javelin and has a personal best of 115 feet.

Jacob likes this picture due to the fact that it shows his arm muscles. He has a great arm!

Part 4 Hollywood Studios

This was our last park and by this time we were SO tired! But at Hollywood Studios the highlights were: Tower of Terror!!! The stunt show, drawing charaters in the art studio, and the Rockin' Roller Coaster. The Star Wars place was closed which really made us sad. We had such a great time visiting Florida and will try to make it back there again! It was great family fun!

Part 3 Shuttle Launch

We were in Florida when the Shuttle Discovery was set to launch. Dave has a great contact with a friend in the police department who knew the best place to watch the launch. He came and set us up with binoculars and everything! We were about 4 miles away and saw the shuttle go and it was so cool!! But the best part was about 3 or 4 minutes after the launch we were able to feel and hear the rumble! It was amazing to think that people were actually on there way into space. This was one of highlights of our whole trip! John(Dave's friend)showed us a shortcut back to our house so we didn't have to sit in too much traffic. The 11 o'clock news reported that the freeways were still bumper to bumper traffic at the time of the newscast!! We had already been home for 3 hours. Thank you SOOO much John!

Part 2 Sea World

We went to Sea World on Monday. (Presidents Day) I was a little worried that the parks would be so crowded but it wasn't bad. We were some of the first ones in the park and ran to the best ride!! Kraken!! There was still no one in line so we ran around and went on it a second time. We had a great time walking around and seeing all the shows and the kids favorites were the Sea Lion show, and of course Shamu! I think my favorite was the dolphin show. Zach is pictured here with a pearl diver. They were in the water all day!! They could stay under for such a long time. It was pretty neat.
